I chose these for the beautiful keys and counterpoint and the extraordinary bass parts. In my horn studio, Bach Chorales are regular fare. We use them at the beginning of horn quartet practice to center our sound and focus on one another as a whole chamber group when we come in frazzled from a long day. We pull numbers out of a basket to see who will play which part. We play them, we play them again, and then we try them with our eyes closed.
